Repairs, parts & paint

What's the difference between auto body repair and collision repair?

Collision repair typically involves structural damage from an accident. Auto body repair covers all exterior cosmetic damage — dents, scratches, panel replacement — whether from an accident, weather, vandalism, or normal wear.

Can a cracked bumper be repaired or does it need replacement?

Minor cracks and scuffs can often be repaired and refinished. Significant cracks, structural deformation, or damage to internal components like impact absorbers typically require replacement for safety reasons. We'll assess and give you an honest recommendation.

Can I see my car during repairs?

We provide photo updates at every stage. If you'd like to visit in person, you're always welcome — just call ahead so we can have your vehicle accessible for viewing.

Are aftermarket parts always bad?

No — and we won't pretend otherwise. Some aftermarket parts (like certain brackets or non-safety trim) are perfectly fine and can save you money. But for safety components, structural parts, and anything affecting fit or crash performance, OEM is almost always the right call. The honest answer depends on the specific part. We'll walk you through it case by case — no scare tactics.

How do you source your parts?

We source OEM parts through authorized manufacturer channels and reputable suppliers. For aftermarket parts (when appropriate and approved by you), we use CAPA-certified parts where possible — these meet a higher quality standard. We don't use mystery parts from unknown sources. You'll know exactly what's going on your car.

Do you use OEM paint?

We use premium systems meeting or exceeding OEM specs. For vehicles under warranty, we source OEM-approved products for compliance.

Can you match matte finishes?

Yes. Matte requires specialized clear coats and must be perfect on first pass — it can't be corrected after. We have the equipment and experience.

Insurance & total loss

What if the insurance adjuster says my shop's estimate is too high?

This is common. Your shop should be prepared to justify every line item with documentation. At Total Care Collision, we write detailed estimates backed by photos and manufacturer repair procedures. We negotiate until the claim reflects the true repair cost.

What if my insurance denies my claim?

Claim denials can often be challenged. We provide detailed documentation that supports your claim and can help you through the appeals process. In some cases, consulting with a personal injury attorney may be advisable.

Should I get a lawyer after a car accident?

If you have significant injuries, the accident was clearly the other driver's fault, or the insurance company is giving you trouble, consulting a personal injury attorney is wise. We work with PI attorneys regularly and can provide referrals.

Can I keep my car after it's declared a total loss?

Yes. In Florida, you can retain a totaled vehicle. The insurance company pays you the total loss value minus the salvage value, and you keep the car. You'll receive a salvage title. We can then repair it and help you get it roadworthy again. Many cars declared 'total loss' are absolutely worth saving.

How do I fight a total loss decision?

First, get an independent appraisal of your vehicle's actual cash value — not the lowball number the insurer gives you. Then, get a detailed repair estimate from an independent shop (us) showing the actual repair cost. If the repair cost is below the real value, present both documents to your insurer. You also have the right to invoke the appraisal clause in your policy.

Will my car be safe to drive after total loss repair?

If the structural integrity can be restored to manufacturer specifications, yes. We assess every total loss repair candidate honestly — if we can fix it right, we will. If we can't make it safe, we'll tell you straight. We won't put you back on the road in a car that isn't safe.
